Self Care Fridays: Listen to your body.

selflove

Peace Soulstars,

If you don’t practice self love you will be of no value to yourself or others.  I learned a valuable lesson this week:  Listen to your body.

A few days ago I decided I wanted to do yoga although I haven’t been practicing as much as I need to. Well, I did a thirty minute yoga sequence which targeted the root chakra.  The root chakra is the foundation of all chakras.  This sequence included a few garland poses and I think I went a little too far.  After I was done I noticed vaginal spotting which was unusual for me because I normally don’t have any issues with this happening.

I immediately associated it with the yoga because I had just finished.  I reached out to some yogis I know of and all advised me to seek medical attention. Well, I did.  My nurse practitioner told me that based on what I described, it was hormonal.  There were no other symptoms, pap test was recent and normal. She advised me to keep an eye on it and as long as it doesn’t continue there should be no problem.  That was a relief but I also kept in mind that I may have pushed myself too far.

Listen to your body.  Always.  I cannot stress this enough.  I’ve been doing so much spiritually which includes trying to get back into my yoga practice.  At the same time I need to pace myself.  If there’s anything I learned from what happened this week it’s that we need to be gentle with our bodies.  If you know you haven’t been consistent with your physical exercise and other practices that can strain your body you need to start off with ease.  Don’t push yourself too much because you can do more harm than good.  Take things one day at a time.

Spiritual Thursdays: Chakras…An Introduction.

chakras

When you’re alignment is so strong that nothing and no one can lower your vibrations…GOALS!

Peace Soulstars,

So, Monday I shared my thoughts on putting in work.  I know that I’ve named many spiritual practices which can be overwhelming if you don’t pace yourself.  Don’t try them all at once.  That’s the beauty of this life.  There are a variety of things to keep you motivated and stimulated so you can stay motivated.  I’m just putting the information out there.  We need to advocate as much as possible about wellness with emphasis on mind, body, connection.  Our bodies are real powerhouses.  We just need to learn how to tap into the power that lies within.

Mindbodygreen.com is one of my favorite sites for all things wellness.  They have many articles on the chakras.  Here is an article from the site which gives you a general yet thorough description of the 7 main chakras.  I hope you find it helpful.  I’ll be sharing more about chakras as I learn more through books like The Power of Chakras.  I hope you find this helpful!

Inspire Me Mondays: Gratitude brings peace…

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed.  Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude…”~Denis Waitley

Peace Soulstars,

Interesting that I was led to have “gratitude” set the tone for this inspiring Monday and it happens to be Thanksgiving week.  That wasn’t planned.  Honestly, gratitude has been at the forefront of my mind and heart for a while now.  Even when I lose sight, I come right back  because my spirit doesn’t allow me to stray for long.  We’re human and sometimes we tend to forget but as long as you remember that peace begins with gratitude you’re on the right track.  Most importantly, keep in mind that gratitude is not something that should only be reserved for once a year.  Gratitude is always a virtue no matter what time of the year.

Spiritual Thursdays: Vibrate higher with music!

Peace Soulstars,

You know what? My love for music runs so deep I couldn’t imagine our world without it.  May sound corny but those are my feelings.  Speaking of feelings, music can generate many depending on the vibration.  Ever been in a terrible mood in the car and a song comes on the radio and you get instantly happy?  Or sometimes the total flip side hits where you become saddened or angry while listening to certain songs.  Yep, music vibrations are awesome;  they’re quite euphoric at times too especially when you realize how to choose the best music to increase your vibration.  Check out this post from raiseyourvibrationtoday.com which describes 3 key factors in selecting music to raise your vibration.

Foodie Tuesdays: Tomato-Avocado salad!

Peace Soulstars,

Avocados aren’t for everyone.  It has taken me years to acquire a taste for avocados so I get it.  I decided to try to make it work because I know they’re good for me.  I’ll get into the health benefits tomorrow but one of the benefits is that they contain healthy fats.  Back to the texture…It’s something about the texture for some or the “tastelessness” of the fruit in general.  Did you know that avocados were a fruit?  Well, avocados are a fruit that have a subtle taste naturally which makes them a food that easily takes on the taste of other foods it’s mixed with.  Everyone’s taste buds are different.  This is my experience with avocados.  Yours may be different.  Anyway,  I tried this recipe from cooktoria.com a few weeks ago.  I wanted to share for those who love avocados.

Tomato-avocado salad is packed with flavor and one of my favorite herbs :  cilantro!  As mentioned before, if you’re not a fan of the texture of avocados then I’d say leave this one alone.   Maybe try it with something crunchy like pita chips or tortilla chips.  You can also add beans for added flavor and texture.  That’s the good thing about this recipe.  I think it allows for playing around with ingredients which I love about cooking.  You may discover that adding your own twist makes it perfect for you.  How do you prefer to eat avocados?  Do you eat them solo or do you add them to other foods for more depth?  Let me know in the comments!
